Living

I like to laugh. I do humor well. My favorite people are those who can make me laugh. My son is like that. My dad and my brother too. My husband and I do humor quite well together. We spend a great deal of time cracking each other up. Sure there are those who can get through a confrontation or difficult situation without laughing nervously to lighten things up just a touch, but what fun is that?

I was on a call with an attorney the other day, and I chuckled when he made an uncalled for accusation that frankly, given the facts, was ridiculous. He was furious. He then warned me never to laugh at him again. Truly...warned me. I've never met the guy. I simply responded with "I look forward to working with you Mr. (he who shall remain nameless)." He then hung up the phone. I shared the story with family and friends in painstaking detail and lots of humor- because that's what I do. Reciting the story to my husband, we bantered with Austin Powers dialogue "take it down a notch Scotty." ha ha ha

As my youngest grandson would say, "that guy's a jerk". He really was (is), or maybe he was just having a bad day. Always presume good faith. I wonder if he has any idea how ridiculous, and as it turns out, funny his reaction was. My guess is he doesn't have a clue because our short interaction leads me to believe that he does anger well. For someone who doesn't want anyone laughing at him he sure engages in behavior that calls for it.

I choose humor. There is already enough anger in this world. :-)
